The James Norris Memorial Trophy was awarded annually by the International Hockey League to the goaltender(s), with the fewest goals allowed during the regular season. The trophy is named for James E. Norris, former owner of the Detroit Red Wings, in honor of his contributions to the IHL in its early years.
The Akron Americans was a minor league professional ice hockey team from Akron, Ohio, that played in the International Hockey League's south division during the 1948–49 season. The Americans were the first fully professional ice hockey team from Akron. The team replaced the semi-professional Akron Stars who played in the Ohio State Hockey League from 1946 to 1948.
The Albany Choppers was an independent professional ice hockey team competing in the International Hockey League during the 1990–1991 season. The franchise originally existed as the Fort Wayne Komets, whose owner, David Welker, opted to move his franchise to Albany, New York and its brand-new Knickerbocker Arena, a major league-caliber facility, during the IHL's period of nationwide expansion. It had the regional Price Chopper supermarket chain as a major investor -- hence the name and colors of red, white and blue in Price Chopper's corporate hues.

He was selected in the 12th round of the 1991 NHL entry draft, 261st overall, by the Calgary Flames. He is currently the goaltending coach for the Washington Capitals.
The Atlanta Knights were a minor league professional ice hockey team in the International Hockey League from 1992 to 1996. The Knights were based in Atlanta, Georgia, and played at the Omni Coliseum. The team became the Quebec Rafales from 1996 to 1998.Robert M.
