The Abbey Theatre (Irish: Amharclann na Mainistreach), also known as the National Theatre of Ireland (Irish: Amharclann Náisiúnta na hÉireann), is a theatre located in Dublin, Ireland. The Abbey first opened its doors to the public on 27 December 1904. Despite losing its original building to a fire in 1951, it has remained active to the present day. The Abbey was the first state-subsidized theatre in the English-speaking world; from 1925 onwards it received an annual subsidy from the Irish Free State. Since July 1966, the Abbey has been located at 26 Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1.[1]
Aladdin (an Anglicisation of the Arabic name ʻAlāʼ ad-Dīn, Arabic: علاء الدين literally "nobility of the faith") is one of the tales of medieval Arabian origin in the The Book of One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights), and one of the most famous, although it was actually added to the collection by Antoine Galland (see sources and setting).[1]
Alan Buribaev (Kazakh: Алан Бөрібаев, born 1979; surname also spelled Buribayev in English) is a Kazakh conductor, the son of a cellist/conductor father and a pianist mother. He studied violin and conducting at the Kazakh State Conservatory. He was later a conducting student of Uros Lajovic in Vienna. Buribayev was a prize-winner in the Lovro von Matacic Conducting Competition in Zagreb and in the Antonio Pedrotti Competition in 2001.Albert Rosen (14 February 1924 – 22 May 1997) was a conductor associated with the Wexford Festival and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. He had a strong affinity with the works of Czech composers such as Smetana, Dvořák, Martinů and Janáček.[1][2] He was Austrian-born and Irish-naturalised.
