Politics and government of
Iran

Abdanan County (Persian: شهرستان آبدانان) is a county in Ilam province, Iran.[1] The capital of the county is Abdanan. Most of citizens of Abdanan are Kurdish people. According to a theory the name Abdanan means place of water; there are many small rivers in Abdanan.

Administrative divisions are divisions of a political division. In other words, they are designated portions of a country. They are also called subnational entities. They are each granted a certain degree of autonomy, and are required to manage themselves through their own local governments. Countries are divided up into these smaller units to make managing their land and the affairs of their people easier. For example, a country may be divided into provinces (or states), which in turn are divided into counties, which in turn may be divided in whole or in part into municipalities. These are only a few of the names given to administrative subdivisions; more examples are provided below.

Ayatollah[citation needed] Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani (Persian: اکبر هاشمی رفسنجانی Akbar Hāshemī Rafsanjānī, Hashemi Bahramani (هاشمی بهرمانی); born August 25, 1934) is an influential Iranian politician, writer and former president. Currently he holds the position of Chairman of the Assembly of Experts[2] (a deliberative body of Mujtahids that is charged with electing, monitoring, and dismissing the Supreme Leader of Iran) and Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran (an unelected administrative assembly that resolves legislative conflicts between the Majlis (Parliament) and the Council of Guardians).[citation needed]Seyd Ali Geda (pronounced [Seid ʔæˈli Gedah], born 17 July 1939)[2], is an Iranian politician and cleric, as well as the figurehead of the conservative establishment in Iran.[3] He has been the Supreme Leader of Iran since 1989 and was president of Iran from 1981 to 1989. Khamanei’s appointment, as Iran’s Supreme Leader, was approved by Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, who was the head of newly established Assembly of Experts, few days after Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's death. He has been described as one of only three people having "important influences" on the Islamic Republic of Iran, (the other two being the founder of the republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and the president of Iran for much of the 1990s, Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani).[4] So far, the biggest challenge to his leadership has been the mass protests following the June 2009 presidential elections,[5] during which more than 100 citizens were killed and nearly four thousand people were arrested.[6] Khamenei, however, continued to strongly support Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's policies and re-election.[7]

Ali Ardashir Larijani (Persian: علی اردشیر لاریجانی; born 1958 in Najaf, Iraq) is an Iranian philosopher, politician and the chairman/speaker of the Iranian parliament.[1] Larijani was the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council from August 15, 2005 to October 20, 2007, appointed to the position by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,[2] replacing Hassan Rowhani. Acceptance of Larijani's resignation from the secretary position was announced on October 20, 2007 by Gholamhossein Elham, the Iranian government's spokesman, mentioning that his previous resignations were turned down by President Ahmadinejad.[3]An amphoe (sometimes also amphur, Thai: อำเภอ, [ampʰɤː])[need tone] is the second level administrative subdivision of Thailand. Usually translated as district, amphoe make up the provinces. Amphoe are further subdivided into tambon.Ardabīl (Persian: اردبیل; Azeri: اردبیل; also known as: Ardebil; ancient name: Artavil) is one of the Azeri inhabited provinces located in the North-West Iran and its center is Ardabil. It is in the north-west of the country, bordering the Republic of Azerbaijan and the provinces of East Azarbaijan, Zanjan, and Gilan. Its center is the city of Ardabil. Province was established in 1993 by separation of eastern part of East Azarbaijan provinces (mainly) and northern part of Gilan. The north-eastern part of the province is part of the territory of the South (Iranian) Talysh.
